A rapier is a slender, sharply pointed sword, ideally for thrusting attacks, used mainly in Europe in the 16th and 17th centuries. The word "rapier" generally refers to a relatively long-bladed sword characterised by a complex hilt which is constructed to provide protection for the hand wielding it. While the blade might be broad enough to cut to some degree (but nowhere near that of the wider, slightly heavier swords in use around the Middle Ages), the strength of the rapier is its ability as a thrusting weapon.

Much better than expected I bought this sword because I wanted a Rapier to add to my collection and this one was both cheap and I liked the look of it so I thought it would be a good one to start with!.
I was surprised by the build quality when I received it ,It's far better built and way more solid than you would expect for the price ,particularly the guard which is much more solid than the photos would lead you to expect ,(some of the welds joining the bars are crude but solid and a decent attempt has been made to clean them up.).The wire wrap on the grip is tight and very neatly done with no slip in the wire.Blade is nice ,flexible but stiff enough for thrusting.
scabbards a bit iffy compared to the sword but funtional.

Overall a very nice package!
